Central Florida weather pretty much ruined all plans to go racing this weekend. I knew it would be wet – it rained cats and dogs all day Saturday, so I’d planned on wearing my rain boots. On Sunday, I woke up to the sun breaking through the clouds and the most impeccable blue sky, and I figured this to be a good sign.

By 8:30 a.m., I received word that the race was cancelled.

“I’ve never heard of them callin’ a harescramble before,” my buddy told me over the phone. “The parking lot is a swamp. There’s people stuck everywhere,” he said. He’d woken up at 4 a.m. just to arrive at the front gate and turn around.

“Man, thanks for calling,” I said, “I was just about to get on the road.” I hung up the phone, thankful that I hadn’t hit the gas just yet.

Now what?
