Solstice

Happy first day of summer, everyone! In Florida, the first day of the summer season means nothing to us because we’ve been sweating for months. For the rest of the nation, today is the one day of the year when the Sun is the farthest north – the Summer Solstice.

I, however, look forward to the Dog Days of Summer – or “the 40 days beginning July 3 and ending August 11, coinciding with the ancient heliacal (at sunrise) rising of the Dog Star, Sirius.”

There will be no dogging around this summer. Stay tuned…
