It’s the last weekend before the start of the big spring semester, and my schedule’s stacked with classes like Designing Interactivity, Photo for Newspaper & Magazine, Travel Writing, Political Reporting and Magazine Management. I’m especially STOKED: (stkt) adj. Slang 1. Exhilarated or excited.
Sure, my 2-mile commute to class might put me through some of the coldest riding I’ve ever pedaled in my life, but I love the thought of a challenge. Plus, have you ever heard of a balaclava?
News alerts for the week:
The Nuclear Cowboyz are in Boston this weekend. “This will be the first time ever in Boston, in America, in the world,” enthused Brian Wallenbeck, director of operations for the show. “This is 16 guys on dirt bikes all at once. It’s going to be non-stop, in-your-face action for an hour-and-a-half.”
The show, apparently, is “really amazing, really dangerous,” said 10-time national motocross champ, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, 28-year-old Californian. “Stenberg said in a recent practice a rider jumped his dirt bike so closely over one of the Cowgirlz he “caught her hair in his wheel sprocket.”
Good news in Utah where commissioners approved plans to work with federal officials to build a motocross track near Payson. The contract between the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Payson and Rocky Mountain ATV calls for development of a 26-mile trail around West Mountain for ATVs, bikes and hikers. Sweet!
The Baltimore Sun cooked up a list of 9 players to watch on the PGA tour, if you’re into that sorta thing. But rookie Rickie Fowler’s topped its list with his “novel hobby, by golfers’ standards: He digs Motocross and has been riding bikes since before he could read – a book or a putt.” More on Fowler.
I’ll leave you with the reminder to keep tabs on Jacqueline Ross @jromx.com. Listen, world: she’s BAAACK!
