Florida Christmas

It’s so nice to be home for Christmas this year. I was in Syracuse last year, away from my family and I forgot: The spirit of Christmas fulfills the greatest hunger of mankind. ~Loring A. Schuler

At my house in Winter Park, we have a few traditions. It starts on Christmas Eve with ham and cheese on rye with potato chips. Then, we drive around to look at Christmas lights. There’s always this one house near Eastbrook Elementary that is covered in lights. Literally, every inch is decorated. It’s a corner house, too, so people stop and park their cars to walk around the neighborhood. This year, I was surprised to find one of neighbors was selling hot chocolate for a $1.00!

On Christmas morning, we always wake up early to open presents and eat cinnamon rolls while we talk about our gifts. Back in the day, I couldn’t wait to go riding and try out all my new gear. I must be getting old because it was kind of nice to just sit around all day and watch movies. Christmas Vacation is still my favorite: “Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, kiss my ass. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass. Happy Hanukkah.”
