Moving targets

One of my Feld Entertainment Google Alerts pointed me to this Dirt Rider post about the inaugural Motofest in Atlanta over the February 24 weekend. Track builder Rich Winkler of Dirt Wurx talked about connecting the “arenacross-specific” course to the supercross part after the Friday night program – “it’s not super fun, but it’s doable,” – even though there’s little difference between the two layouts.

According to the press release, Motofest is “The World’s Greatest Motocross Festival. This historic four-day affair will commemorate the championship’s annual visit to Atlanta from February 24-27, bringing upwards of 1,000 riders to the sport’s 25th and final visit to the famed Georgia Dome.” (Sidenote: Curious to see if Motofest lived online anywhere else, a quick Google News search of “Motofest” lead to various articles on other events of the same name, including the Coventry Telegraph on the UK’s motoring extravaganza MotoFest that draws nearly 100,000 car, truck and motorbike enthusiasts.)

Sounds like I’ll be taking a trip to Atlanta this year, which is long overdue since I haven’t been back to the A in 10 years! Funny, I can still remember what happened like it was yesterday…
